The Perfect Fit
WINTER IS PARTY-DRESS season. But as a large lady, my off-the-rack options have always been limited. That’s why I was so psyched to discover the affordable offerings at Balodana.com, a fashion site that only sells made-to-measure garments. Customers create a fit profile that includes a detailed list of all measurements—the site suggests asking a local tailor to do the measuring for the most accurate results—and can then choose from looks created by a dozen globally based designers. I selected a deep blue, retro-style frock from Bucharest’s Zaza Boutique, and two weeks later, I received a gorgeous dress in the mail that fit like a glove. The only down side was that the cost of the dress went up from the $222 listed on the site because of issues related to my specific measurements—so definitely double check what the final price will be before sealing the deal.
