The Beastie Boys dance-battle themselves in their new music video “Make Some Noise” which was released yesterday as an extended trailer for their upcoming short film “Fight For Your Rights – Revisited.” The video features Elijah Woods, Danny McBride and Seth Rogen as young Beastie Boys doppelgangers wreaking havoc and partying in the streets of Brooklyn amongst star studded walk-ons from the likes of Amy Poehler, Will Arnett, and Steve Buscemi. The action stops abruptly when the young Beastie Boys come across the time machine from Back to the Future. Emerging from the souped-up DeLorean is the future Beasties: Will Ferrell, John C Reilly, and Jack Black.
Face to face with their past and future selves, the Beastie Boys engage in a Derridean-style patricidal battle when the future Boys challenge their past selves to a “super-fresh old school dance party from the future” in order to determine which group of Beasties is the Realest.
The 30 minute video that trailer leads up to has been released online internationally, but is currently blocked in North America due to copyright claims by their record label EMI. The video was directed by band member Adam Yauch and accompanies the Beastie Boys’ eight album “Hot Sauce Committee Part 2” which will be drop May 3rd and is currently available to stream on their website.
The video for “Make Some Noise” is available on MTV.com, and you can watch its sequel below:
