Attention Baby Makers. A diaper situation.

by callie watts

My BFF is having a baby and I am in charge of the baby shower. Well the New York one, her mom is throwing a traditional shower for the fam and close friends. Sunday was the day we had the baby shower planning party/clothing swap (because I know dick about baby showers and wanted to come up with less vomit inducing games and ummm swap some clothes). The cover story of the Daily News that day was "Baby Gangstas"! We’d already been thinking the colors focus would be bling and not pastel, essentially dollabill-green and gold. What better theme then Baby Gs! We are cookin up veggie fried chicken and waffles and listening to a mix tape of baby making rap songs. We’ll be playing tons of non-traditional games like “pin the baby on the nipple” and making her a sort of vision quest book where everyone writes down their predictions of what her lil’ thug will be doing at different ages in his life. We wanted to have a little craft station where we make cloth diapers and bibs, but then we were struck by this question:
If you don’t have a washing machine at home, how do you clean your reusable diapers? You probably would get kicked out of the public laundry mat for putting bundles of poop in a public machine, right? I looked up diaper services in Brooklyn and found Queen Bee Diaper Service but its $32 a week. I know diapers are mad expensive but that isn’t cheap by any means either. If we made her piles of diapers she would only have to pay to wash, but how?! What do you other city dwellers do?

Also, please let me know of any other baby thug themed games we can play and songs for the mix, think R. Kelly’s "Having a Baby", 2Pac’s "Dear Mama" or B Rock and The Bizz "My Baby Daddy". Anyone remeber that last one? Anybody? Well I put the video after the jump.
P.S. I did a google image search for "gangsta baby" and a bunch of pictures came up of a thug-ish midget (I think), in a diaper rubbing on pornstars. Odd.

This was my jam way back in the day.
