Last week I had the opportunity to check out the new shows at N.Y.C.’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Talk about awesome. It’s a double whammy featuring two amazing gals: Tara McPherson (who you might recognize from our Feb/Mar ’07 issue) and Lori Earley. Tara’s show, “Lost Constellations,” features her signature supergirls (my faves are the ones who sport killer KISS-like makeup) in gorgeous oil paintings with a room of resin-cast sculptures in shiny candy colors. Lori’s show, “Fade to Gray,” is hauntingly beautiful, full of muted oil paintings and graphite drawings of evocative, dreamworld women, ornately framed and hung against wallpaper she designed specifically for this show. If you’re anywhere near Manhattan, go see this now. If you’re not, check out these artists’ Web sites, you will fall in love with their incredibly different, yet complementary aesthetics. We heart their art!
