The Apocalipstix will rock you.
A slam-bam postapocalyptic action-hero fantasy for girls, one part Tank Girl and one part Josie and the Pussycats, it’s the story of a band who manages to survive World War III and sets off on the road trip to end all road trips in search of the necessities of life–food, shelter, and roaring crowds.
Writer Ray Fawkes neatly turns rock’n’roll stereotypes on their heads, giving the girls the phallic symbols–guitars and guns–and turning the men into the squealing fans, and Cameron Stewart‘s art is sassy and vibrant.
The digest-sized volume from indie publisher Oni Press fits perfectly in a purse, and makes for great train reading, begging for a soundtrack of L7 and Joan Jett. Give them some love.
