Every year, college basketball enthusiasts go batshit for March Madness. The president fills out a bracket, ESPN pulls out all the stops, and fans stock up on tons of face paint. This year, Mother Jones is offering it’s own take on the phenomenon by debuting its own “Anti-Choice March Madness: The Worst State for Women.” Think fewer chicken wings and painted abs, more shocking information about the current legislative war on women, presented state by state. Divided into categories like “Southern Inhospitality” and “Rocky Mountain Lows,” states duke it out, competing to be crowned the “Anti-Choice Champion”. For each state pairing, Mother Jones compares anti-choice records and declares a winner. This year, North Dakota reigned supreme (sorry for the spoiler, ladies), on account of a recently passed law that could ban abortions in North Dakota as early as six weeks.
