An Astrologer’s Guide to the Full Pink Moon: Self-Care Rituals for Each Zodiac Sign

Normally, the full moon in Libra is the perfect time for pillow talk—but let’s face it, right now things are anything but normal. Instead of doom scrolling on dating apps or obsessing over your situationship, the Pink Full Moon urges you to look in the mirror, nudging you to be the main character for a change.

Named for the phlox flowers that bloom in the spring, April’s full moon is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and pleasure. But this lunation is more than just a pretty face—forming a T-square to Mars in Cancer and the Sun and Chiron in Aries, the Pink Moon casts its reflective light on old emotions and wounds that are only bogging you down.

Tailored to each sign, the following moon rituals are designed to help you let that shit go. By harnessing Libra’s penchant for harmony, you can use these rituals for radical self-care when you need it the most. Find your Sun or Rising Sign, and perform anytime you want to get a little witchy.

Author’s note: Reading this after the Pink Moon on April 12? No worries—these rituals can be done anytime you feel called to connect with the moon, carve out a little me-time, or tap into your spiritual power.

Aries

Never one to sit back and watch, Aries, your ruling planet of Mars invites you to bravely step forward and do what you do best: think about yourself. With its square to Chiron, the Wounded Healer, you might have to face whatever lurks in the shadows, but those demons got absolutely nothing on you.

Pink Moon Ritual: Light a white or red candle, and spend a few minutes gazing into the flame. Reflect upon the ways in which you are authentic to yourself or act courageously for others, and write these instances down. Burn the piece of paper and say aloud, “By claiming my power, I ignite my courage to make positive change.”

Taurus

Ruled by the lovely Venus, this full moon invites you to tend to your own needs at your own (snail’s) pace. It’s also an invitation to pay homage to all the possessions that bring you joy—and we know you have a lot of them. (You? A hoarder? Never.)

It’s okay; loving your things is a beautiful way to love yourself.

Pink Moon Ritual: Clear a small space on a table or bookshelf and create an altar dedicated to self-love. Collect physical items that bring you comfort or represent your sense of beauty (flowers, small objects, jewelry). Place them lovingly on your altar and say, “I am worthy and deserving of my own love.”

Gemini

With Jupiter, the planet of expansion, hurtling through Gemini, your quest for continual knowledge—and continual conversation—remains supercharged under the Pink Moon. But maybe try being quiet for a change? Your curious nature can be best leveraged when you turn your inquiry inward and fully embrace your inherent duality.

Pink Moon Ritual: Grab a pen and paper and create two columns side by side. In the left column, write down a list of things you love and appreciate about yourself. In the right column, write down a list of things you want to learn to embrace. Recite both columns aloud, ending with, “I love and honor myself and use curiosity to embrace my duality.”

Cancer

Any full moon will be felt by a Cancer—it is your planetary ruler after all—but with Mars’ prolonged transit through your sign, you’ve basically been in your feels since September. Feel free to cry it out, and when you’re finished, take a second to nurture your own needs. You might finally find those warm fuzzies you’ve been searching for.

Pink Moon Ritual: Fill a bowl with water. Whisper into the vessel a list of things you like about yourself or are learning to appreciate. Next, use the water in an act of self-care, such as watering your houseplants, washing your face, or adding to a bubble bath. As you perform the act, say, “When I nurture my needs, I create a safe and loving home.”

Leo

You mustn’t stop shining, dear Leo, as much as you are destined to make friends with any mirror you see. With Chiron, the Wounded Healer, conjunct with your ruling planet, old insecurities may try to dim your natural shine. Just remember, you’re the best cheerleader you’ve got. Heart-centered expression will lead you back into the light.

Pink Moon Ritual: Light a white or orange candle and sit in front of a mirror. Hold the candle in front of your heart space and envision its warmth spreading throughout your body. Speak to your reflection and say, “I call upon the Sun’s rays to connect to my heart” and then reflect upon ways in which you can embrace self-expression.

Virgo

As the South Node continues its journey through your sign, the Pink Moon highlights the theme of release. As masterful editors, Virgos are efficient at cutting the fat. It only gets tricky when you cling to those pesky perfectionist tendencies that aren’t serving anyone, really, including your highest self.

Pink Moon Ritual: Find a quiet place to meditate. When you feel centered, ask yourself, “In what ways do worry, perfectionism, or self-criticism hold me back?” Write down whatever comes up on a sheet of paper. Rip up the paper and say aloud, “I release what no longer serves me and give myself permission to trust the process.”

Libra

The Pink Moon is yours for the taking, Libra. Occurring on the tail end of Venus Retrograde, you have spent the past six weeks reassessing how you function in relationships—and it’s probably sucked Like, a lot. To make it worth your while, take a moment to compile all that you’ve learned and put it to use.

Pink Moon Ritual: Take two candles and light them both. Spend some time meditating before the flames, thinking about your past or current relationships. Write down any unresolved issues or unhealthy relationship patterns, focusing on things you’d like to release. Say, “The balance I seek must first be found in myself” as you burn the paper.

Scorpio

Death and rebirth are a part of the package for you, Scorpio. Even though transformation is your love language, you’re not so great at letting go of control. In fact, you’re pretty terrible at it. Try trusting that things are working out in your favor, and you might be surprised by the end result.

Pink Moon Ritual: Close your eyes and visualize the full moon. Imagine yourself drawing its energy down into your body. Open your eyes and write down an intuitive list of things that need to be expelled from your life. Bury the list in your yard or houseplant, saying, “I transform this old energy into a new path.”

Sagittarius

Forever seeking new horizons, your Sagittarian enthusiasm abounds on the Pink Full Moon. While your energy cannot be contained, it can—and should— become more focused. With your ruling planet of Jupiter still in chaotic Gemini, your superpower is being a little extra. Now it’s time to leverage that superpower into something more constructive.

Pink Moon Ritual: Spend time meditating on your bigger goals or dreams. On a piece of paper, draw out a visual map of your goals, using lines to connect the actionable steps you must take to achieve them. Write down “I embrace the journey with positivity,” and place the map somewhere you can see it every day.

Capricorn

Playing by the rules comes naturally to a Capricorn, but with the strict planet of Saturn still in boundaryless Pisces, this Pink Moon can be used to (gasp!) loosen the reins a bit. Take the time to define your own version of success, and see what happens. (Hint: you might actually like it.)

Pink Moon Ritual: Write a list of all the societal expectations that you currently fulfill. Write a second list of all the societal expectations that you innately reject. Rip up both lists, saying, “I am able to define success on my own terms.” Now write a third and final list of what success means to you outside the confines of society and place it somewhere safe.

Aquarius

Times have been tough lately, haven’t they Aquarius? Despite your love for humanity, you also prefer to distance yourself from the human race. It’s quite the conundrum. Finding a way to balance your love of independence with your desire for connection is the best way to honor both yourself and this lunation.

Pink Moon Ritual: Draw two intersecting circles. In one circle, write what independence means and why it’s important to you. In the other circle, write the ways in which relationships help you thrive. In the center, write how you can achieve both needs. Say aloud, “I balance my need for freedom and companionship and find harmony in the process.”

Pisces

This full moon is jam-packed for you, sweet Pisces, with Mercury, Saturn, Venus, and the North Node all traversing your sign. When an overload of information hits your system and you want to curl up into your typical Pisces ball, try to be constructive for a change. Unplugging and redirecting your energy will certainly help.

Pink Moon Ritual: Prepare a running shower or hot bath. As you immerse yourself in the water, say aloud, “I call my energy back to myself, clean and clear.” Imagine the water cleansing your negative energy and exiting through the drain. Continue to say “clean and clear” until you feel a shift and your energy is your own again.
