Amy Schumer Tackles Female POV Sex…and Her Show’s Funny, Too

by Mary Grace Garis

I feel like comedian Amy Schumer must wake up to every horrible sexual experience with a smile on her sweet Jennifer-Lawrence-meets-adorable-chipmunk face and a resigned feeling of, “lol okay.”

Schumer’s Comedy Central show, Inside Amy Schumer, has been on for bit now and it’s been an expectedly wacky ride of sexual misadventures. Most admirable is how Schumer takes the pervy crudeness and hyper-sexual world usually reserved for frat boys and Spencer’s Gifts, and subverts it into hilarious sketches. Mostly from the perspective of a slightly awkward girl with a subtle cat obsession (i.e. most of us.)

In her latest episode, Amy’s face glows with glee as she watches “female point of view” porn with her less-enchanted gal pal Amber Tamblyn. “Female point of view” porn, btw, ends up being exactly what it sounds like: gross, awkward, sweaty thrusting, disconnected, falling asleep immediately after…wow, I’m going to be really bummed out if I’m the only one relating to this.

Another episode features Amy taking some friends to a bizarro Hooter’s called O’Nutters, where the hot wings are delicious, the waiters flaunt their bulges with tasteful green unitards, the Skinny Girl white zinfandel spritzers keep on coming.

And if you’re ever wondering how to be sexy over the fun, check out Amy’s attempt at sexting, telling her prospective love interest that she’s wearing “my tit” and begs for him to “tell me what my remotes do.” I’m glad I have these words of guidance prepared for the next time some ex-fling Snapchats me a picture of his penis.

Whether it makes you feel better or worse about yourself (and honestly I don’t know what camp I fit into after typing this up) it’s gut-bustingly hilarious and worth a watch.

You can catch Inside Amy Schumer on Tuesdays at 10:30.
