I’m going to make a blanket statement: any time Amy Poehler is on TV, I want to be watching. Live, recorded via DVR, or streamed online – it doesn’t matter. Everything she does gives me life.
Which brings me to her appearance on Wednesday’s episode of Late Night, where Poehler and current host Seth Meyers joined up to revive their infamous segment “Really!?! With Seth and Amy.” Back in the day, “Really!?!” was a rant-y recurring feature on Weekend Update, the notoriously hilarious Saturday Night Live news sketch Poehler and Meyers co-anchored.
This week, the duo took special care to call out Sports Illustrated contributor Andy Benoit, also known as that douchecanoe who tweeted that “women’s sports in general” weren’t “worth watching” on Monday during the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
“I think a lot of people would love to watch you say that to Serena Williams,” Poehler quipped.
Read him for filth, Amy. I mean, really.
The anchors continued by denouncing the magazine’s swimsuit edition and questioning why the Cup is broadcast solely on “secondary channels” like the mysterious FOX Sports 1.
“Nobody gets Fox Sports 1!” Poehler said. “C’mon networks, you’ll play six hours of pre-Kentucky Derby footage, but you can’t broadcast women’s soccer?”
