On September 16th, the Brooklyn-based rock blues group She Keeps Bees, featuring Jessica Larrabee on vocals and guitar and Andy LaPlant on drums, will release their third album, Eight Houses on the label Future Gods.
Listening to Eight Houses is a therapeutic experience. When Jessica Larrabee croons the soothing words of “Is What It Is”, “Do not surrender/ It is what it is, it’s that kind of life/You are worthy/I am worthy,” she responds to the angst and insecurity of tracks like ‘Raven,’ “the blame, the note of blinding need/get noticed, get anxious, a self-defeat.”
Eight Houses is She Keeps Bees’ third album, following the groups two highly praised albums, Minisink Hotel and Nests, and the release of their LP, Dig On. Fans of the group’s earlier work will not be disappointed. Eight Houses maintains the band’s characteristic mix of soulful blues and rock sound, blending the aggression of tracks like “Gimmie” from Nests with the atmospheric sounds of songs like “Mercury” from Minisink Hotel.
