Adele To Rolling Stone: ‘I’m A Feminist’

by Dawn Day

With her new album, 25, coming out on Nov. 20 and people everywhere singing “Hello from the outsideeeee” way too loudly from their showers and cars, Adele is finally emerging back into the spotlight where she belongs. In her first big interview about her new album Adele talked to Rolling Stone‘s Brian Hiatt and declared that she is indeed a feminist.

“I’m a feminist, I believe that everyone should be treated the same, including race and sexuality,” Adele told Rolling Stone

The interview also goes into Adele’s experiences of having male business men talk down to her as though she knew nothing. “Well, I’m the fucking artist, so I fucking know everything, actually,” she said in the interview.

From 25 we can also expect more from her collaboration with Sia, the first woman she’s every teamed up with. She told the Rolling Stone that working with another woman in a room full of male producers had the men “fucking shitting themselves” because she and Sia were in there “just fucking being bossy.”

Another highlight of the interview is when Adele rejects the notion of critics pitting her against images of artists like Miley Cyrus. “That’s just pitting a woman against another woman, and I don’t hold any more moral high ground than anyone else. So that has pissed me off a bit,” she told Hiatt.

As if we didn’t already love this vocal powerhouse of a woman, this interview just renews our love for Adele’s amazing talent for being the kind of superstar who avoids all of the mainstream BS and does her thing.
