Adele Is On The Cover Of Vogue, Looks AMAZING

by Erika W. Smith

Hello…it’s me…on the cover of Vogue!

Adele just announced on Instagram that she’s Vogue’s March 2016 cover girl — and the cover story and accompanying gorgeous photos are online already for your perusal.

This is Adele’s second Vogue cover; she also appeared on the March 2012 cover. Adele is very open about how much Vogue means to her — in the interview, she says she conceived her son Angelo “the day the last Vogue cover came out!”

Adele also talks about her career, motherhood and her body image — including revealing that losing weight took her from plus-size to straight-size and opened up a whole new world of shopping possibilities. This will probably inspire quite a few thinkpieces, but I’m reading this (and think she meant this) as a criticism of the lack of fashion options for plus-size women rather than an encouragement for everyone to go on diets. Here’s the quote:

“I was trying to get some stamina for my tour,” she says, “so I lost a bit of weight. Now I fit into normal, off-the-shelf clothes—which is a really big problem for me!” she adds, laughing as she describes a newfound shopping habit.

This time around, Vogue put her in better clothes now than they did in 2012 (if you’ll remember, in 2012 the magazine mostly stuck to shots of her face and cleavage and got criticized for using excessive Photoshop to make her appear thinner) — and Adele looks gorgeous in elegant gowns. I wish I looked this glamorous while lounging on the couch. #stylegoals

My favorite part of the interview might be when Adele talks about her love for the Spice Girls:

“People always think I joke about this,” she says, “but the Spice Girls blew up when I was seven. And seeing them coming from a humble background—there was hope in it. It was really a massive part of my life when the whole Girl Power thing happened.”

As another former mega-Spice-Girls fan, I can relate.

A quick look at Vogue’s list of cover models shows that Adele is the biggest woman to appear on the cover, even now that she’s no longer plus-size. Hopefully everyone will go rush out and buy this issue, and Vogue will realize that cool, talented celebrities of all sizes can sell magazines.
