A Peek at Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People by Amy Sedaris

by Lauren Rubin

Come hither crafty kids, recessionistas and connoisseurs of kitschy nostalgia! Multifaceted Busty funny lady, Amy Sedaris has declared details affiliated with her sophomore book release,  Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People. Her 2006 sassy, literary debut I Like You:  Hospitality Under the Influence gave readers a guide for side splitting party planning and soiree preparation. Amy covers everything in her hostessing manual from real recipes and icebreakers to purifying threads of vomit stains.

With her new release soon to hit the shelves nation wide, her sister craft book presents itself as just as convincingly witty and charismatic, if not more. Necessary topics like fake candle making, coconuts and crafting for Jesus are given full chapters declaring the joy of constructing knick-knacks when being broke is an inevitable fate. If you are anything like me, than the anticipation is eating away at your brain. You can catch a plump morsel for yourself here on Amy’s official website, which also lists dates for her 2010 book tour.

Simple Times is written around the philosophy that ugly people make stuff out of other stuff while beautiful people spend that time humping each other. In this book you will learn penny-pinching projects such as crepe-paper moccasins, crab-claw roach clips, seashell toilet seats, and let us not forget pom-pom ring worms!  Amy also covers the ins and outs of appropriate ways to use different adhesives to secure varying surfaces, like tacky with furry and gummy with gritty. Cleverly illustrating that crafting is one of the most enjoyable of hobbies a person can partake in, Sedaris reveals that you don’t need to be nimble fingered to create something entertaining and quirky. Simple Times reaches bookshelves big and small on November 2nd and is sure to be a favorite in your craft book library. To make sure you are not without Amy’s tongue in cheek humor and pipe cleaner advice, you can preorder a copy here today!
