A Dress A Day

by Nissa

Today marks the 248th day of Marisa Lynch’s eco-friendly fashion project New Dress A Day. The goal: renew 365 articles of used clothing in 365 days, for 365 dollars. Transitively, a new dress for just a dollar a day. When Lynch was laid off last November, she channeled the change positively, inspired by the movie Julie & Julia. “[Julie] was finding something to do every day that made her feel great. I was jealous. I thought, I want to find that.”

I have to say I’m pretty jealous of Marisa; her new, homemade clothes look fabulous! Not long after Marisa embarked on her project she decided it would be awesome to document her refurbished fashions through a blog. Complete with before and after pics, New Dress A Day offers tips on how to find cheap, accessible clothing and also tips on sewing, fastening and accessorizing with what you’ve got on hand.

In her own words: “I don’t want people to think this is something they can’t do.“You don’t have to have sewing skills to start doing this. Anyone can do it.”

Just bring your own vision.
