The GOP has been incredibly disconnected from women lately, but there’s one area where that could be a good thing: the vice presidential debates.
Vice President Joe Biden is a sassy bitch. When someone says something stupid, he chuckles and shakes his head in a way that makes me want to hang my head in vicarious shame for the offender, or point and laugh, depending on who we’re talking about.
And bless his sassy bitch heart, but Biden didn’t quite know how to handle Sarah Palin during the last vice presidential debate. He grinned widely while she babbled nonsense, sure. But there was a lot of speculation at the time that he held back; that he had to, because if he treated her like the idiot she is it would’ve been seen as sexist.
Since that won’t be an issue when he debates Paul Ryan, my fingers are crossed that Biden will really let him have it. When he treats him like an idiot, it will be because he is one, and can’t be construed as anything else.
After President Obama’s distracted, lethargic performance at the first presidential debate, I’m looking forward to seeing Biden crumple Paul Ryan up into a little squirming turd (wait, was that redundant?) and eat him.
I’m hoping, too, that the president will snap out of whatever fog he was in, call bullshit on Romney’s rapid-fire lies, and bring up some of the important domestic issues beyond the economy. After the first debate I was left with the impression that it had been intended to be all about economic policy, that there would be another all about social issues, and then a third about foreign policy. That made sense. But then I learned that, in fact, the debate was supposed to be about domestic issues in general. If that’s the case, I don’t understand why or how the issue of reproductive health, which Obama has seemed in the past to understand the urgency of, wasn’t mentioned even once.
Hopefully Biden will call Ryan out on his squeamish stance on women’s health. After all, we know he likes tough chicks.
