Through discipline, strategy, and a belief in the future, Lina Moynha’s self-made journey has led her to remarkable success. Though her story began in poverty on a council estate, Moynha has gone on to build multiple businesses, demonstrating conclusively that wealth creation is not reserved for those operating within traditional power structures. Indeed, even one with very little can make their own way forward.
Rising From Humble Origins
Money was tight during Moynha’s childhood. There were times when her family ate just one meal a day; during the earliest years, they even experienced homelessness. As a second-generation immigrant household, women weren’t encouraged to take risks or build wealth, further compounding their struggles. Moynha thought differently.
“From a young age,” Moynha shared, “I promised my mum that one day I would retire her and change our circumstances.”
Deviating From the Traditional Path
So, partly to please her parents and partly out of genuine belief in the academic route, Moynha attended university and graduated with a degree in business. She then entered the corporate world and quickly realized it wasn’t what she expected. The traditional path was paved with misogyny and micro-aggressions, restricting her from the freedom and impact she hoped to achieve.
Around this time, Moynha started to learn about property. She began by managing property for family friends and deal sourcing, learning to build capital from the ground up. Even here, operating her own business, people assumed there had to be a male partner. This assumption forced Moynha to work ten times harder, using every spare moment to move her business forward.
“In 2022, I went all-in on the rent-to-rent Airbnb model. Within 12 months, I scaled to ten properties across the U.K. and built a six-figure Airbnb business,” Moynha said.
Building a Career in Property
Though she launched this venture with just over £3,000, Moynha achieved significant success within the space of a year. From this platform, she has branched out to property in Dubai. Additionally, Moynha diversified by building a remote sales business focused on helping women earn online, lifting other women up from the same circumstances she had faced as a child.
“I’m also passionate about showing people that property is not as out of reach as it often seems,” Moynha explained. “Models like rent-to-rent can be a stepping stone that allows people to enter the industry.”
Meaningful Achievements
Beyond business growth, Moynha is proud to have fulfilled a promise to herself. Since building her Airbnb business, she has featured in national press like The Sun, driven her dream Porsche, paid off family debts, and bought her mother a five-bedroom home. Additionally, Moynha has built a strong audience on social media platforms like TikTok, where her videos have reached over 20 million views.
Ambition for the Future
Moving forward, Moynha intends to transition from a rent-to-rent model to full ownership and international expansion efforts. She is currently in the process of purchasing property for herself and exploring opportunities in markets outside of the U.K. In the long term, Moynha aims to build her global property portfolio, as well as charity construction projects to support those who come from backgrounds like hers.
