Nonbinary transgender artist Beth Jeans Houghton, aka Du Blonde, is back with their fourth album. Continuing to produce and engineer their own work obviously opened up a new sonic world for this powerhouse musician. Playing all instruments except for drums, Du Blonde delivers the goods with a mix of glam, punk, and pop gems. “Dollar Coffee,” “Blame,” and “TV Star” rock with ferocity and whip-smart lyrics like “Fate was on my mind back then/But don’t worry baby it’s all pretend.” There’s also a beautiful ballad, “Out of a Million,” with heartfelt vocals and simple piano arrangement.
