For Cryin’ Out Loud! is Finneas O’Connell’s second album, further highlighting his vast solo talent beyond his ties with sister Billie Eilish. The album kicks off with quite the eye-opener; “Starfucker” is a scathing reflection on the feelings of betrayal, self-pity, and mental torture that only deep heartbreak can induce. Other highlights include “Family Feud,” a touching nod to his close protective relationship with younger sister Eilish that made me want to check in on my own sister immediately. The album concludes with the contemplative “Lotus Eater,” which challenges listeners to enjoy the present moment amid a catchy, upbeat tune that you will inevitably find yourself tapping on the steering wheel along to. This album explores themes of identity and intimacy, a good pick if you feel called to do some soul-searching or find yourself in the mood to sit in your feels for 40 minutes.
