To Squirt or Not to Squirt: It Shouldn’t Be a Question

Have you ever soaked your mattress during sex then debated with your partner about who would take the wet spot? For us squirters, some version of this can be a routine occurrence. Towels, mattress covers, even puppy pads are helpful, but you’re often still stripping the bed. Our pleasure often takes a backseat in society. Take a front seat with products designed for encounters of the wetter kind.

Squirtopia’s SquirtPad

Whether it’s softness, aesthetics, or straight-up functionality, I’ve tested these six reusable mats, pads, and blankets for squirters so you don’t have to. Here’s what I found out about Layered Blankets’ The Accent, Liberator’s Fascinator Queen Throw, PlayDrop’s Sex Mat, Squirtopia’s SquirtPad, Lil Helper’s Lifesaver Lush XL Mat, and NorthShore’s Champion XD Washable Underpads. Let’s get into it!

Layered Blankets’ The Accent

Function

All the products I tested were fairly equal in absorbency, waterproofness, and washability, so check those off your list. For extra absorbency, Layered Blankets’ The Accent in extra large goes above and beyond, especially for a couple of gushers that go all night (the blanket does need extra drying time). While most were quick-absorbing, Liberator’s Fascinator Throw and one side of The Accent are hard-core wicking if you prefer a pooling effect.

Tip: Low or no heat and air drying will prolong product life, but always follow care instructions.

Lil Helper’s Lifesaver Lush XL Mat

Looks

Cutest is definitely Lil Helper’s Lifesaver Lush XL Mat, which is the only one available in patterns! The Fascinator Throw  and Squirtopia’s SquirtPad have a nice color selection, and The Accent is incognito as it looks like your fave comfy throw. Playdrops’ Sex Mat comes in a fun teardrop shape.

Liberator’s Fascinator Queen Throw

Feel

Nicest on skin were The Accent, which was super soft on both sides and which also has one side  that is smoother, providing versatility (the blanket is bit warm but they have a summer version, I’m told); Lifesaver Lush, which is truly lush with a soft, minky feel that I could easily fall asleep on; and the Fascinator Throw, which is a thinner plush that says, “I’m soft, sexy, and waterproof. Get it on all over me!”

NorthShore’s Champion XD Washable Underpads

Price

Specialized products can put a dent in your wallet that may have kept you from considering one, but these waterproof angels will have you wishing you converted sooner. Marketed for healthcare, do not discount NorthShore’s Champion XD Washable Underpads. While some of the other products are plusher and cuter, these baby blue quilted pads are deceptively comfortable and clock in at a reasonable $25 to $35, and even cheaper for a four-pack ($86.99). The other blankets’ smaller sizes range from $49 to $59 but for full and larger sizes, Playdrops is the least expensive at $55. After that the prices  range from $100 to $200.

Playdrops

Tip: If you are regularly sexually active you may want to consider having a few— three seems to be a reasonable number. You can throw a couple in the wash and still have one to rock with.

My verdict:

You’ll be glad you invested in any of these items, with Northshore’s Washable Underpad best for the budget squirter and Layered Blankets’ The Accent and Lil Helper’s Lifesaver Lush XL Mat being my favorites for an all-around romp.

If you’re still on the fence, remember that you’re worth it! You deserve to get to sleep without stressing. And while untested by me, they can also be used for free bleeding, menstrual accidents, and anal sex! Shout out to the women-owned Playdrops and the woman owners at Layered Blankets and Squirtopia. Happy squirting!
