106-year-old Virginia McLaurin recently got a chance to meet Barack and Michelle Obama at the White House, and she couldn’t have been happier about it. She was a ball of energy from the moment she entered the room and joyfully called out “Hi!,” reaching for the President’s hands. Her joy was contagious, and Barack and Michelle were excited to meet her as well. She couldn’t stop happily dancing the whole time. She told the Obamas, “I thought I’d never live to get in the White House. And I tell you, I am so happy. A black president, a black wife, and I’m here to celebrate black history.” Virginia McLaurin is an inspiration to us all and an excellent reminder to stay positive.
