Serena Williams’ superhero sense snapped into action on Tuesday night when a thief attempted to snatch her phone while she was eating dinner at a Chinese restaurant. She wrote on her Facebook early yesterday morning, “I jumped up, weaved my way in and out of the cozy restaurant (leaping over a chair or two) and chased him down. He began to run but I was too fast. (Those sprints came in handy) I was upon him in a flash!”
Once she caught up to him, she was not accusatory or aggressive, she simply asked him if he accidentally picked up the wrong phone. The man responded with, “Gosh you know what I did! It was so confusing in there. I must have grabbed the wrong phone.” So confusing in the restaurant, gosh darn it!
Her “superhero sidekick” as she dubbed her friend back at the restaurant was FaceTime calling her phone, so there was no way the confused man could deny he had Williams phone.
The best part of her Facebook post, IMO, is that she says to always listen to the super hero voice within. “Just because you are a lady don’t be afraid to step up to any challenge and not be a victim but a hero,” she wrote.
