As one of many typically male-dominated industries, technology buffs should be bowing down to the women who have pursued these careers. These ladies have been hard at work and making some serious impact. When you consider the fact that women leave the industry at twice the rate that men do, a recent list of 30 important women under 30 in the tech industry shows us that we need more women in the tech world, not less! Here are some leading ladies that we thought you should know.

Sara Haider, an engineer at Twitter who runs Twitter’s Women in Engineering group.

Sarah Kunst, a retail innovations investor at Mohr Davidow Ventures who previously worked for Apple and a fashion app startup called Kaleidoscope.

Alexa von Tobel, who dropped out of Harvard Business School to start LearnVest, a company dedicated to helping people take control of their finances.

Samantha John, founder of Hopscotch Technologies, which teaches computer programming to kids using iPads.

Libby Leffler, leader of a division of partnerships at Facebook that focuses on non-profits, advocacy groups, public figures, and causes.
