There are a plethora of drinking games in this world that will get you schwasted in very fun ways. TV shows are some of the best methods of learning about new ways to get drunk with your friends and invite some healthy competition while doing it. Here are a few drinking games that have been played on some of our favorite TV shows.

The Office: Up Jenkins

the office

Directions: This is a team game, which was featured in the season three episode of The Office, "Cocktails." One team will have a coin (or something coin-like) concealed under the palm of their hand. The team with the coin will slap their hand on the table simultaneously. The other team needs to guess which player is concealing the coin. The concept of this drinking game is relatively simple. It gets complicated the more you drink, mostly because you’re drunk.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: Chardee MacDennis

Directions: According to Charlie, Chardee MacDennis is not a game: it’s a war. Before the game starts, the players will wine and dine with each other to show respect. All questions will be asked then, since they cannot be asked during the game. They will end this by smashing their wine glasses and doing warrior-like dances to intimidate each other, or with a flag raising ceremony. This is also a team game, which is played for 15 minutes, technically. The 15 minutes does not include stoppage time, and with the gang, that happens often. A first aid kit should be kept on hand for injuries resulting from the game, and the board should be nail down so it cannot be flipped in anger at any point. Cursing is prohibited in the second level. If someone curses, they must chug for five seconds, which will be counted out by the opposing team. If someone spills a drink, they must drink the other team's drinks. There are four levels: Mind, Body, Spirit, and Horror. Five cards are needed to advance to body from mind, three cards are needed to advance to spirit from body, and two cards are needed in spirit to win the game. In the event of a tie, the Black Card must be drawn. Cheating happens frequently in this game. If someone is caught cheating, the other team will advance a level if they are on the same level, or if they are a level below, they will be advanced to the same level. The Black Card reads: “In the event of a tie, a winner must be chosen. There can be only one, and so it comes to this. Flip a coin.” Solid.

Saturday Night Live: Hi Bob

Directions: This drinking game was popular in the '80's and most likely unknown to most millennials today (this millennial found it while doing research for this piece.) Basically, you would watch old Bob Newhart reruns, and anytime someone says "Hi, Bob," take a drink. Naturally, this was played by Chris Elliott and Chris Farley when Bob Newhart hosted SNL.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: Drinko

Directions: Drinko is basically The Price Is Right meets Russian Roulette, but with alcohol. It can be disgusting, delicious, and/or leave you intoxicated, depending on your luck. The player drops a chip down the Drinko board, where it will land in one of several different drinks, ranging from absinthe to Capri Sun to pickle juice, then repeats the action. Whatever two drinks the chips land in are mixed together into a cocktail and consumed by the player. Get crafty, and you can design your own mini Drinko board yourself!

Game Of Thrones: Tyrion's Judgement Drinking Game

Directions: Tyrion played this game in season one, and brought it back in season six. It is very simple: He makes a statement about someone's past. If he is wrong, he drinks, if he is right, the opponents drink.

How I Met Your Mother: But Um

himym

Directions: When Robin was on the air with her talk show Come On, Get Up New York!, she had the tendency to said “but um” a lot. Like a whole lot. She was very excited when some college students told her they were a fan of her work, but later learned that was because her show comes on at the tail end of they're night of drinking, and they play a drinking game and take a shot every time she uses her favorite phrase. Ted and Barney tried But Um for themselves and learned that if you partake in this activity, you are guaranteed to be shitfaced within the hour.

New Girl: True American

new girl

Directions: There are no rules. Literally none. Jess describes it as, "It's 50% drinking game, 50% life-size Candy Land." To Schmidt, it is, "More like 75 drinking, 20 Candy Land, and, by the way, the floor is molten lava."  And to Winston, True American is, "Actually 90% drinking and then it's got a loose Candy Land-like structure to it." You do you. And drink.
