We've known for some time that Betty White would be on SNL, we just didn't know when. Or if she would actually be hosting. Now it's confirmed, the 88-year-old actor will have her day on May 8, 2010.   SNL Executive Producer Lorne Michaels told USA Today he was moved by the Facebook group, "Betty White to Host SNL (please?)!" group. We're thrilled Lorne noticed its nearly half a million fans.   What we didn't know, till a quick search of the Internets, is that maybe Betty has been...
While I appreciate a good serious film as much as the next guy, I can't help but be enthralled when a dance sequence shows up in a movie. Flavorwire apparently thinks the same way--so they put out this list of their 35 favorite dances on film. Present are the obvious musicals (I have such a soft spot for West Side Story, so I was pleased to see three clips on the list) but also unexpected dances like the one in Pulp Fiction.   [video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ik-RsDGPI5Y 425x344]   Check it out...
I do love me some Will Forte and I'm feeling his feminizle vibes on this "Good Job Women' skit from last weekends Saturday Night Live. I think he's probably pretty excited about being included in our "Men we Love" issue! (that's at the printer right now). I know I am. Here's his tribute to women's herstory month. Program your DVRs; the highly anticipated third season of Bravo's Real Housewives of New York City premieres tonight at 11 p.m.  If the season is anywhere as exciting as this clip, it is surely not to disappoint!       Photo courtesy of BravoTV.com ...
Check out the adorable Will Forte (look for him in the next issue!) and the always great Zach Galifiinakis in a promo for this weekend's SNL. It promises to be a Zachtacular show! (except maybe for me, not so jazzed about the Vampire Weekend part, but the kids love that stuff!) [video: 425x344]  ...

Let's start this thing off with a little honesty:  Yeah, I did go to Economy Candy and buy wax vampire fangs to wear during the season finale of True Blood on HBO.  Didn't you? I guess what I'm really saying is that, for some of us, the wait for Season Three seems like a long one.  But since America's favorite politically-charged-Southern-Gothic-vampire-soap-opera won't return to television til June, here's something else to look forward to.  Comic book company Bluewater Productions is hard at work on...
This Sunday, Oscar history may very well be made: the Academy may award its first Best Director award to a woman. This would be an awesome step for women directors—which is actually a term the nominee in question, Kathryn Bigelow, isn’t too fond of. In an interview with 60 Minutes this past Sunday, Bigelow revealed her ambivalence about the potentially groundbreaking award. "There's really no difference between what I do and what a male filmmaker might do. I mean we all try to make our days,...
WomensMediaCenter.com has put together a video to commemorate the ladies responsible for the best cinematic moments of 2009.  Celebrating the women whom without these moments would not be possible, the video highlights accomplishments of Oscar hopefuls such as Kathryn Bigelow, Meryl Streep, Mo'Nique, Maggie Gyllenhaal and all other female nominees.      As pointed out on the Women's Media Center's website, Kathryn Bigelow is better positioned than any other woman in history to win the Award for Best Director at this year's ceremony on March 7th; accomplishing...
Figure skating is one of those Olympic sports that draws a huge viewership. As such, it leads to a sense of rivalry in the fans (I still feel Michelle Kwan was robbed by Tara Lipinski in the ’98 Games, but that’s neither here nor there) but this year is one where everyone is worth rooting for. Most discussed so far is probably Joannie Rochette—a second-time Olympian from Canada—whose mother died unexpectedly on Sunday. Despite this blow, she still skated on Tuesday during the women’s short...
The ladies of the US’s women’s hockey team are a stunning group of women—who will be going for the gold this Thursday against Canada--peppered with Ivy League grads, awesome moms, and career women (including two women who have opened their own hockey centers.) So, basically, ladies getting stuff done and then going and winning Olympic medals. Clearly awesome. Despite this group of awesome women’s success on the ice and off, some are calling for their sport to be nixed from the Olympics altogether. Because the US...
