The temperatures have dropped to damn-near freezing and it is getting dark out at an ungodly hour, but that doesn’t mean Northeasterners have to kiss music festivals goodbye. Cue the Tinderbox Music Festival: in its third year running, this 100 percent lady-fronted, New York-based fest stands and delivers right at the start of the chilly months, before winter sets in for good.

The annual event, which will be hosted November 11th at Webster Hall, showcases a lineup of female artists from many genres and degrees of fame.  This year features more bands than ever before, with 30+ female-fronted acts scheduled to perform across the three stages during the 12-hour festival.

Headlining the event this year is freak-folk sister group CocoRosie (can I get a HELLS yes), which is incentive enough for me to clear my calendar for November 11th. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the show, with doors at 12:30 pm. Set times and a full lineup can be found here.

BUST Magazine is proud to sponsor Tinderbox, which not only features a diverse lineup of established and emerging female artists, but also donates 100 percent of their net proceeds toGirls Write Now and the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls. Both organizations provide guidance and opportunities to help empower the next generation of female artists. In addition to these efforts, this year a portion of proceeds have been promised to Hurricane Sandy relief.

See you at the show!
