Golden rollerblades and the Cult of the Duck? Sounds like my fourth grade birthday party.

Perfume Genius (Mike Hadreas) has released a third video from his third album, this year’s critically acclaimed, Too Bright. “Fool” marks his second collaboration, after “Grid,” with director Charlotte Rutherford.

Their latest video has Hadreas in striking white and red lips while rollerblading through town to catch up with some crow-like dancers and a baby duck. If someone can write a short story that links the three videos from this year’s album, I would read it (great incentive, right?).

Work backwards:

Instead of revealing secret narratives for the sometimes ambiguous songs, the videos create a visual environment for Perfume Genius' most confident and playful product to date. Continuing to confront issues of self-identity, anxiety and sexuality, siren synths and doo-wop snaps buoy Hadreas’ ethereal vocals  -- pretty to the point of fragility until they rise and rage like a sea monster. Maybe the short story can be about a sea monster?
