In surprising news of the day, Big Boi (of OutKast) is an obsessive Kate Bush fan. Unsurprisingly, so are many other musicians and writers and celebrities and regular people because Kate Bush is the shit. Even though the Spin article that catalogs Big Boi’s intense love is about three years old, it’s always worth reminding people of the dream musical collab that has yet to happen.
Nowadays, Bush is pretty busy. Tonight marks the first time she will be performing live in 35 years. Yep, 35 years. In the meantime, she’s been working on new music and reworking old favorites. She’ll be performing 22 sold out dates spanning the next month or so. If anyone ever thought she wasn’t relevant and still beloved in the hearts of many, this is pretty solid evidence that the diehard Kate Bush fan lives on inside all of us.
If you’re like one of the many who couldn’t snag a ticket, I recommend watching Running Up That Hill, the BBC Documentary about Bush. There are plenty of celeb features (Elton John!! Annie Clark!!), as well as everything you ever wanted to know about Bush.
Though photos and videos are prohibited during the performance (yeah, right), I am 1000% anxious/excited to hear and see her first show back. Hey, maybe even Big Boi will be there!
