It was recently announced that A Quiet Passion, the biopic about inspiring American poet Emily Dickinson, is finally going into production after it was first announced back in 2012. Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon will play Emily Dickinson and Pride and Prejudice star Jennifer Ehle just signed on in an unknown role. A Quiet Passion will begin filming in Belgium next week with Terence Davies directing.

Of the film, Nixon said: “When I read what Terence had written, I was consumed by the character he had so beautifully put on the page. Emily Dickinson’s words and Terence’s somehow dovetail to create a heady elixir. When I put the script down, I knew it was a story that I simply have to be part of.”

Although Dickinson’s poetry was barely recognized in her lifetime, it is praised today for its lucidity, mysticism and beauty. We’re so excited that one of our favorite lady poets is finally getting the big screen treatment and we hope that this film will shed new light on her wonderful poetry. We can’t wait to see the film!
