Mother Monster and pop music goddess Lady Gaga will soon add another notch to her very long and impressive career belt with the imminent launch of her Born This Way Foundation. The foundation supports initiatives and programs that will assist and empower youth. The outspoken singer is launching the non-profit organization in conjunction with The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, The California Endowment, and The Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard. The goal of the non-profit is to empower youth while using digital media as a platform. The foundation will focus on issues that affect young people such as self-confidence, bullying, discrimination, and career development, and its goal is to create positive change in young lives.

“My mother and I have initiated a passion project. We call it the Born This Way Foundation. Together we hope to establish a standard of Bravery and Kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment,” said Lady Gaga. As a leader in anti-bullying and self-love, Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta will work with the other foundations to use the Internet as a positive and powerful tool to bring about positive change in how people view themselves and others. The MacArthur Foundation supports creative people and institutions committed to building a more peaceful and just world. It works to defend human rights, understand how technology affects children’s lives, make cities better, and advance conservation and global security. The California Endowment is a private, statewide foundation launched in 1996 that attempts to expand healthcare for individuals and families. It is also involved in improving the health status of all California citizens. The Berkman Center for Internet and Society was established in 1997 and studies the way the Internet effects society and creates solutions to the problems that it finds. The Center works will lawyers, students, faculty, architects, and many others in an attempt to engage with the difficulties and opportunities that are associated with the Internet.

The Born This Way Foundation will launch in 2012. Visit the website to become involved in the movement.
