Check out this clip that includes two of my favorite things, rad hand made stuff and Mr. MO ROCCA! Mo had to learn how to make his own hoodie for this feature on Etsy and the handmade explosion so he went to the studio of the adorable Ruffeo Hearts lil Snotty proprietor Mackswell who showed him the ropes. Come meet Mackswell and Sarah at their booth next Sunday at the BUST Spring Fling Craftacular in Brooklyn May 17th, 12-7pm. To view all the vendors,...

BUST's Spring Fling Craftacular is just around the corner and we have some seriously awesome vendors lined up. Check out this shiz. Margaux Lange makes unique handcrafted jewelry out of Barbie doll parts. There are plastic chests molded into heart-shaped necklaces; eyes and lips and hands as earrings. They are absolutely fantastic. You can also keep up with her at her blog, Midge's Mind. She has an Etsy shop, but you should really come see her stuff in person at the Spring Fling Craftacular on...

The Knitta Please installation in Brooklyn Heights is coming up soon! The installation is May 13, and the deadline to submit a piece of work is May 5. If you do live in NYC you can also send in items, plus you can go out on the 13th and help install the pieces. Details behind the jump. You can also check out the Facebook event and the...

New Yorkers, it's time to go hungry for the hungry. On May 6, skip lunch (or bring something from home) and donate your daily food moola to City Harvest , which helps feed hungry New Yorkers, especially children. It's part of the Skip Lunch Fight Hunger campaign. You can register to participate as a team or an individual. Teams will get a kit with paper lunch bags so that members can go out on the sixth to collect donations. Last year they raised about $500,000 and...

Tomorrow night Bags for the People will be holding a Sweatshop Social at Spacecraft Brooklyn . They'll be making reusable tote bags (or, as they say, ''totes cute totes''). All you have to bring is your hollow leg and some clean fabric; they'll supply sewing machines, scissors and lots o' home brewed beer (why does that sound like a dangerous combination?). The event is from 6:30 to 8:30 on Thursday, April 23 (OK, so that's technically after Earth Day, but whatevs). Spacecraft Brooklyn is at 355...

The good people at BabyCakes bakery made this super-adorable video to celebrate the upcoming release of Babycakes, the Book of Recipes on May 5. BabyCakes, the Book of Recipes: It's Here (Almost)! from BabyCakes NYC on Vimeo. Watch, enjoy, and salivate over their beautiful vegan goodies. -Liza ...

I felt like a superhero after I mastered increasing and decreasing, but teen twins Alex and Ana Miller are the real thing. Not only can they bust out a mean stockinette stitch, but these kids, the fictional son and daughter of a yarn shop owner, are saving the world in their free time in the new comic book Handknit Heroes. Creator Stephanie Bryant and her crew are dubbing Handknit Heroes 'the first graphic novel for knitters.' Each copy not only chronicles the badass antics of Alex...

It's already Passover! Can you believe it? This year I'm home in NYC instead of doing the whole seder thing with the fam in VA, so I thought I'd start my own little tradition by having my girl band over for a night of home style Jewish cooking and a spirited screening of The Ten Commandments . I already started my vegan matzoh ball soup last night with the help of Isa Chandra Moskowitz's genius recipe , which you can follow along with here: ...

Crafting and beer. Seems like the perfect combination, no? If so, then maybe you should take your drunken, creative self over to Spacecraft Brooklyn (at 355 Bedford Ave) tonight from 7-10 pm for the first-ever meeting of Craft on Draught. The group will be meeting the first Thursday of every month, alternating locations between Spacecraft and 3rd Ward . This month is ''Spring Cleaning 1 - Swap Monster Scrapplique.'' Bring your old (s)crappy clothes to be deconstructed and remade into something awesome. I think the...

Whew, SXSW is kind of the most exhausting thing ever. I even lost my voice today. Not only is there so much to see and do and you always feel like you are missing something, but there's also a lot of stress and pressure to meet people and make moves. Yesterday was really intense, Sara and I headed up the BUST tables for two major events. One was at Bird's, which is basically the raddest barbershop ever, and featured some hip bands and was full...
