With the start of the new year, we often reflect on ways to improve. This can take form in many ways (i.e. eating better, reading more, getting a new hobby) but the most important thing is that you continue to take care of yourself. 2023 is the year we are prioritizing self-care above all which is why we wanted to share 7 of our favorite self-care tips fit for anyone!

1. Make New Friends

Surrounding yourself with people you love (and who, in turn, love you) is a very important factor in having a satisfying life. Unfortunately, as we get older and busier, not to mention the whole pandemic that happened, making new friends can seem harder than ever. While it may sound odd if you’ve never tried it, we listed 9 great apps out there designed for helping you make friends. Similar to how the classic dating app works, these apps allow you to see the profiles of lots of different people who are also looking to make new friends!

2. Surround Yourself With Greenery

This self-care tip also doubles as a fun hobby! According to Parenting Science, “studies show that green spaces can have a protective effect on our mental well-being.” By adding some greenery to your living spaces you not only get some cute decor but are also engaging in self-care. Follow these tips on how to start adding and taking care of greenery in your spaces. 

3. Listen to Self-Care Podcasts

Self-care doesn’t always have to involve actively doing something. Sometimes self-care can be as simple as listening to a favorite podcast. Podcasts are great for learning new things, getting advice, or just listening solely for entertainment. For those days when you just want to sit back, relax, and listen, our list of self-care podcasts is a great place to start.

4. Give Yourself a Deep Massage

I’m sure we all wish we had the time (and money) to get regular massages. Our bodies hold stress in the form of tight muscles that need to be released. This trick of “Rolling” allows you to relieve the tension your body is carrying at home by yourself all by using a couple of tennis balls.

5. Get Moving

The “hot girl walk” was all the rage in 2022 and we’re hoping to continue the trend in 2023. The purpose of the hot girl walk is to practice gratitude and reflect on your goals while also getting your body moving and spending time outside. Healthline reports that walking has been proven to improve your mental health by boosting energy and reducing both anxiety and depression. So next time you’re feeling down and want to practice some self-care, all you have to do is get outside and walk. 

6. Deep Clean Your Mind

The last self-care tip we want to share is some advice on how to deep clean your mind. The start of the new year is the perfect time to refresh your brain on what’s important and how to treat yourself well this year. These tips are meant to help you learn from your past and set yourself up to enjoy your present by practicing and prioritizing self-care. 

7. Try Manifestation

Do you often lie awake at night worrying about your future? Or wonder how you’re ever going to achieve your goals? The practice of manifestion may be a way to easing your fears.
