At the New York premiere of Breaking Upwards this month at IFC, Julie White walked the red sidewalk in the fetching emerald number pictured above.  This was, of course, my big chance to say "who are you wearing?" and I flubbed it.  Luckily, Ms. White spoke up:  "Since you're the feminist gal," --guilty-- "...this dress is from a boutique on Fifth Ave. in Park Slope called Asha Veza, and all the clothes are designed and constructed by women in India and Bosnia...it's a womens' collective...

From the department of "'nuff said," I bring you the following photo and caption from today's Wall Street Journal: "Kevin Abraham-Banks, a Sioux Falls, S.D., trucker, likes to knit while passing the time on the road. Here he makes a sweater for his wife."  Photo by Gretchen Abraham-Banks Not only is he knitting her a sweater, but he seems to also have hyphenated his last name, taking her last name along with his Who is this dude? And does he have 5 million or so brothers?...

Native New Yorker Kanika Ameerah says she was feeling frustrated by the social networking sites available to her, so she decided to make her own.  Her new site, Raspberry Mousse (http://www.raspberrymousse.net), is in her words a "social networking and events portal that caters to the... bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer crowd--truly a place for the rest of the LGBTIQ community, where we get the chance to be and feel like 'regular people' in a world that treats us like we're not."  Ameerah explains that, while she...
After Mo Rocca exclaimed at a taping of NPR’s “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me” that handmade sweaters were “itchy,” the subsequent backlash from the knitting community made him re-evaluate his position and learn how to knit. BUST’s Debbie Stoller was there to help him on his way. Check out the clip below.   Watch CBS News Videos Online ...
