Hey crafty ladies! Get out your glue guns! This adorable bouquet craft is advertised as being for the 4th of July, but these pinwheel-esque flowers will look cute and fresh all summer long. The crafting video is presented by Holidash's Kendra Smoot from AOL.com (remember AOL?!), and we'll be sure to follow her in the future. Besides being incredibly easy to make, this project uses old water bottles (yay for reusing, or upcycling as Kendra says), which you cut and bend into flower shapes then...

The New York Times has a blog post up today about how exercise science has ignored women. The piece cites New Zealand researcher Dr. David Rowlands, who did a study on male cyclists in 2008 that found they exhibited a 4% performance gain if they ate protein and carbs after workouts, as opposed to just carbs. He theorized that the protein repair muscle damage and aided in processing the carbs as fuel. The study aligned with other similar studies and the word went out to...

I freaking love Twitter. I love that you can randomly type something on your phone and send it out into the ether and strangers read it. (Kind of like how I used to feel when I did a zine! But without a post office or stapling things!) I love that you can keep up with your friends, various pop cultural and political figures, and also keep an eye on trending topics to get a feel for what the online world is chitchatting about. But I...

Last night was the kick off party for the NYC Food Film Festival, and boy was I in heaven. (Don't I look happy?) The "Shuck 'n Suck" event took place at the Seaport and guests were treated to an endless array of raw oysters (6500 to be precise) , broiled oysters (w bacon) and even oysters w grits– along with the prerequisite beer, wine and specialty cocktails. The idea of the festival is to pair several short movies about the particular food while the audience...

Tonight debuts the fourth annual New York City Food Film Festival. The NYC Food Film Fest is the delicious brainchild of documentary filmmaker George Motz, director of the documentary Hamburger America. Motz wanted us to be able to explore a multi-dimensional method of tasting food - by learning about it at the same time! So what exactly is this food and film fest? The best answer is that its an exploration of an overall sensory experience of food. You watch a documentary about food, while...
For Brit illustrator Alice Gabb there's nothing so lovely as getting a hand written letter. In fact,  encouraging people to write more letters is what inspired her tongue-in-cheek range of playfully pretentious fine stationary, which she will be selling at the London Craftacular on July 10.   Among Alice's splendid offering, which will also include recycled fabric creatures and limited edition prints, you'll find sets of notecards, envelopes and writing paper each screen emblazoned with wonky hand-drawn borders and crested frames as well as dotted lines ready for...

On one fateful day in February, Jess’s fiancé decided he wanted more out of life and peaced. (Read: The “bastard” left her for the Starbucks barista with kids down the street. No shit.) They had already bought a home together some months before in August after a long search. And now, Jess gets to pay for it. Luckily, a good friend has helped by buying out her now ex-fiancé’s share, but now she has 3 years to pay him back. This is where Bastard Brownies come...
