Let’s Get Physical!

by Intern Chrislande

Imagine you’re on the elliptical at the gym or biking to work thinking about Snooki’s pregnancy, Obama, and global warming when you feel a twitch right under your biking shorts. The good twitch. You start to breath a little deeper and the tingles start building, like the rapid ticks of a time bomb. You know what’s going on with your body, but why here? Why NOW?

No, this isn’t my attempt at a BUST One-Handed Read; a new Kinsey Institute study is reporting that around 15% of women can orgasm while exercising. (The term for this is “coregasm,” since abdominal exercises were the most frequent triggers.) I’m not sure if this is a ploy to get us moving and enjoy our crunches a little bit more, but there is actual science behind it. Even more interestingly, Time Magazine is reporting that during the exercises that brought on the O, most of the women weren’t even thinking about sex.

If this study has you headed for the gym to try your luck, hit the “captain’s chair”–the machine most likely to give you an orgasm at the gym, according to the study.

If you’re not a fan of that contraption, a run-of-the-mill yoga class, biking or walking can apparently sometimes do the job. The trick is longevity: most women didn’t experience their first O till after the 15th or 30th rep of an exercise. You could skip the workouts and try an old-fashioned orgasm-producing method instead, but if you’re an athletic, sexed-up overachiever, go ahead and shoot for the moon.
