OkeefeGeorgia O'Keeffe has been all over the news lately. Turns out Lifetime premiered a movie the other evening (feat. Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons) about O'Keeffe's personal life and her struggle to become an established artist. Then, an exhibit of her work opened at the Whitney Museum of American Art in NYC on the 17th of this month.

Georgia O'Keeffe: Abstraction will feature her lovely abstracts, which were often overlooked (due to the sexual nature many saw in her floral prints). 130 abstract works, which include her legendary charcoal drawings, watercolors, paintings and sculptures, will all be on display until January 17, 2010. If that wasn't enough, a number of portraits of O'Keeffe, taken by her longtime lover and confidant, Alfred Stieglitz, will be on display as well.

If you can't make the show here in NYC, it will be traveling to Washington D.C., February 6-May 9, 2010, and to the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, Santa Fe, May 28-September 10, 2010.
