Ever wanted to chat with the charming Stanley Tucci about birth control? A new PSA from the Center of Reproductive Rights shows him alongside Whitney Cummings, Lizz Winestead, Morena Baccarin, and Mehcad Brooks, all calling for congress to move forward on women’s reproductive rights. Fantastic.
The PSA was released as the Center of Reproductive Right’s CEO Nancy Northup’s own open letter to the Obama administration. It’s all about encouraging Obama to prioritize women’s reproductive rights in his second term, honoring the now hundreds of thousands of signatures on the Bill of Reproductive Rights. (If you haven’t signed it yet, get on that!)
Celebs in the video condemn the “more than a dozen new laws attacking reproductive freedom in the last four months alone” – you know, those ones blocking access to emergency contraception and birth control, regulating reproductive healthcare providers out of business, and giving people unnecessary and invasive vaginal exams? Yeah, those suckers. We want to move forward from those.
"Clearing the way for every woman to get the full range of health care she needs," Baccarin says in the video. “That's forward. Putting science before politics on reproductive health issues," adds Tucci.
Nancy Northup and Martha Plimpton will meet with congress members to talk about this serious ladybusiness in June. You can support their efforts by signing the Bill of Reproductive Rights and keeping an eye on their campaigns, Draw the Line and A is For.
