In celebration of the anniversary of the infamous pro-choice ruling of Roe v. Wade, local New York feminist filmmakers are holding screenings of two films this Thursday, January 14th. Obvious Child, co-written and produced by previous BUST intern Anna Bean, is a romantic comedy about an unplanned pregnancy, an abortion, and a great first date in an unlikely location. The second film, I Had an Abortion, documents the views of 10 women (including famed feminist Gloria Steinem) as they explain their experiences regarding women's choices throughout the decades.

The screening will be followed by an open discussion with the filmmakers along with representatives of NARAL Pro-Choice New York. The event will be held at Wollman Hall at The New School (enter at 66 W. 12th Street, walk across courtyard and take elevator to 5th Floor of 65 W. 11th Street. Between 5th and 6th Ave.) and runs from 7pm-9pm. It is being sponsored by NARAL Pro-Choice New York as well as the Soapbox Inc. Winter Term. For more information click here.

For those of you outside of the New York City area, do you know of any events or celebrations happening in your neck of the woods for this historic event? We'd love to hear about it!
