!! RT @lizzwinstead @sarahksilverman & I are hosting a telethon supporting Texas Women Deets: http://t.co/RMWa6m8722 #TexasWomenForever

On Monday night the crème de la crème of powerful females came out in support of the “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can Choose” telethon. Hosted by Bust faves, Lizz Winstead and Sarah Silverman, the telethon raised money and awareness in protest of unfair abortion restrictions in Texas. The event was streamed online and raised over $50,000 for the cause. The money will go towards funding abortion procedures that many women in Texas are being denied access to, including but not limited to rape victims.
The controversy surrounds a new law that requires the doctors performing abortions to also have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of their respective abortion clinics. This would cause at least 13 clinics in Texas to stop operating, forcing women to travel long distances to get an abortion. Proponents claim that this law ensures women’s safety—but it would be safer for women to be able to GOVERN THEIR OWN DAMN BODIES.
Amongst the notable attendees were badass babes and former cover girls, Natasha Lyonne and Kathleen Hanna. Attendees and supporters of the cause tweeted the event throughout the night.
Can't believe all the controversy today. You'd think we held a telethon to support Ben Affleck as Batman.
