One of my most favorite living designers, Mike Mills (not the REM dude) is speaking at The Strand on Friday night in NYC. He's got a new book published by D.A.P. and will be having a conversation with cute curator Tim Barber. If you are not familiar with Mills, get googling! He is a super talented guy, and besides being an amazing graphic designer and visual artist has directed several films (Thumbsucker) and music videos (Air, Yoko, Blonde Redhead) and not to mention...

Who knew Ru still had it? RuPaul, that is. While the MAC spokesperson/dragqueen extraordinaire has been low key, RuPaul has without a doubt, emerged by reviving reality competition shows by adding her flair and fabulousness to pop culture once again, by introducing 'RuPaul's Drag Race,' on the Logo network. RuPaul's Drag Race strangely (yet not surprisingly) rings a bit of familiarity with similarities to 'America's Next Top Model, down to Tyra Banks' weave. But the show differs in many ways; the men competing to...

Last night this commercial came on and it sort of left me with my jaw hanging open. It should be a funny, obvious joke ad, like the ones for guys (Axe) where they are clearly making a pun, but it was done in a subtle lady like way, with vaguley sexy, wine bar electronic background music. Bleh, it takes the fun out of the pubes=trimming the hedges joke, guys! While I am all for making fun of girls that are all serious about trimming their pubes...

So, this is the last SXSW post I'll do, promise. I'm still reeling from the residual excitement! I'll leave you with this amazing performance I recorded of King Khan and the Shrines  gospel of being reborn. Khan puts a whole new meaning to wanting to be inside his lady. ...

I'm back on the cold, hard east coast now, and write about my last day in Austin with a bit of sadness over leaving SXSW! Yesterday was a great day at the Mess With Texas party, a show with over 10 bands in Waterloo Park on two outdoor stages. I wanted to catch up on sleep and stay out of the sun, after three days of it, I was starting to feel a bit nuts. So, I headed to the park in the early...

Friday, Day 3 of SXSW was exhausting, but super fun. I was out, trolling around Austin from 1 in the afternoon until 2 at night. My feet were just straight red when I got home. I started my day intending to catch Handsome Furs at the Insound Party at Club Deville, and totally missed it because it was so tough to get a cab downtown. Bummer. But, I caught School of Seven Bells at Emo's Jr.. They drew a surisingly loyal crowd,...

Since there is an overwhelming amount of things to see, do and hear at SX, I have been hard-pressed to get to a computer and keep our readers abreast of what's happening! That's Susan and I at the BUST table at Bird's Barbershop. Like I said, it was a total success and we were thrilled to be  part of the show. Later that night, at the Mohawk's Secretly Canadian/Jagjaguar/Dead Oceans showcase, I did an interview with one of my new fave up-and-coming bands, Seattle's Mt...

BUST was in full effect at Bird's Barbershop yesterday, a cute little salon-cum-venue that offered $15 mohawks, free Dewer's drinks, water and beer, and a line-up great indie bands and DJs. This was our freebie/merch table and we met tons of cool guys and girls who wanted to check us out!     Even Khan (below) from King Khan and the Shrines was digging BUST and I'm pretty sure LA-based MC, Busdriver, who got the line-up started told the crowd he masturbated to our mag. I...
