The world seems a bit too harsh for us lately, what with the news filled with the troubling economy plus tragic celebrity deaths. But sometimes sadness can result in beauty. The below video pretty much sums up our feelings today. Bonus points to anyone who can tell us where in NYC this looks like it was shot. ...

So, Austin is nuts. Not only is SXSW music madness perfectly suited to this a very cool, weird, and musical city, it was a breezy 75 degrees, just delightful for wandering venue to venue to sample BBQ, beer, and bands. Totally a way I can happily spend my day. It's predictably hard to get into good, free shows, because of lines and crowds. After getting my bearings on the venue-packed main drag, 6th street, I was bummed to see an epic line for the Paste...

BUST has landed in the middle of SXSW! After departing from Philadelphia  at 6:30 am, and with a two hour delay in Houston, we have finally arrived in Austin! Needless to say, Southwest Airlines was not flying the friendliest  skies today, but all is well, and both yours truly, BUST's Associate Music Editor, and Marketing gal Susan Juvet, are here and ready to fill you in on our rock 'n roll cowgirl adventures.    In true SXSW fashion, I'm crashing with some guy I don't know, who...

Click through for a full-size preview page of Phonogram 2.2 from Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie . For a refresher about how friggin' awesome the first one was, check out my review here (and also of McKelvie's Suburban Glamour here ). Is there anything better than cute boys arguing about music--in comics?  ...

This week some of the ladies from BUST will be heading down to Austin, TX for the annual music festival, SXSW! BUST has been a huge fan and participant in SXSW for years, not only sponsoring events, but throwing our own last year as well. Check out pics from the awesome Hangover Lounge last year here . This year we are going to be all over the fest, covering shows and parties like never before. BUST is sponsoring two majorly awesome showcases, one at the...

This past week, I got to do one of the most fun things ever: Teach Mo Rocca to knit. Mo got himself into some hot water with the knitting community a few weeks ago (yes, there is such a thing as a 'knitting community,') when he made the horrifying 'joke' on NPR's Wait Wait..Don't Tell Me that 'I hate handknit sweaters. Handknit sweaters are always itchy.' The remark caused an uproar on knitting blogs and community sites, and Mo heard all about it....

Jack White, check. Alison Mosshart (Kills), check. the guy w the glasses (Jack Lawrence) from Raconteurs, Check. Someone (Dean Fertita) from Queens of the Stoneage, check.  Ok, put them all together and you get The Dead Weather, and judging from the two songs I've heard, this is going to be very, very good. They played a show last night at the opening of Jack Whites new Third Man Records building in downtown Nashville, and according to the press release, the invitations were exchanged...

How devastatingly cute is M.I.A.'s little boy?! He's just one month old today and already stealing hearts. Happy birthday, little playa! ...

Three of my favorite artists (Caroline, Saelee, and Seonna) have joined forces for a show, I Know What You're Thinking, that opens next week in New York. Knowing the work these ladies do, I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a triple threat of awesomeness. See more of their work after the jump. Caroline Hwang     Saelee Oh      Seonna Hong     ...

Everyone has been all over the Chris Brown-Rihanna beating controversy (c'mon, we've all seen the TMZ photo of her face post-beating by now...) that the Big-O has stepped in, and you KNOW it's somethin' serious when Oprah lays it down to ya. (Let's not forgot how she invited author James Frey back just to call him out for lying to her face on her show!) I mean, who wasn't shocked to see Rihanna and Chris Brown back together after what seemed like a...
