Colleen Patrick-Goudreau’s The 30-Day Vegan Challenge is meant to be read chapter-by-chapter in 30 days, but I couldn’t put it down all weekend. I never thought I would read a cookbook cover to cover like that! However, this is so much more than just a cookbook. It has recipes for sure, and over 100 delicious ones at that, but it also serves as a personalized, all-encompassing, crash course in veganism. It’s as if Colleen Patrick-Goudreau becomes your new brilliant and persuasive vegan best friend. Her day-by-day practical guide to a vegan diet is written with contagious enthusiasm. You learn how your grocery trips will change, how to confidently defend your veganism to criticizers, how easy it is to cook vegan meals, how vegans reap immense health benefits and positive changes, and so much more. This book absolutely answered every question I had about a vegan diet, plus some questions I hadn’t thought of before. There’s even a chapter about how cheese lovers can rethink their comfort food cravings to become vegan.

Colleen Patrick- Goudreau’s powerful conviction about veganism draws you in as she shows how open and vast this diet is. Throughout the book she inspires you to break your old diet’s status quo, and to start an empowering food revolution for yourself. I feel so inspired by this cookbook. This past weekend, I found myself cooking more often than usual, and imagining new vegan meals to make myself. And I’ve never felt comfortable attempting anything other than the simplest meals. Now I want to cook for myself all the time! I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for new healthy recipes, nutrition info, or a new supportive friend who inspires you to positively change your life.
