Today’s Lenny news blast was a Q&A with the wondrously talented Elizabeth Moss, whose voice is so melodic I wish she narrated audiobooks. When asked about the books she rereads the most, Moss gushed about Salinger’s work, particularly Nine Stories and Seymour, an Introduction. “They break my heart and make me laugh simultaneously, which is my favorite kind of art,” she explained.

Same here, girlfriend! And this FREE art show titled Comedy & Tragedy in Williamsburg will definitely give you the laugh-cry you seek. Hosted by The Experiment Comedy Gallery, seven artists submitted pieces addressing what tragedy means to them and what it feels like. Then, seven comics took those submissions and re-titled them, creating a dynamic push-pull of sadness and humor. “Because,” as the gallery’s website explains, “all tragedy needs a bit of comedy and all comedy needs a bit of tragedy.”

The show opens tonight, Friday December 4, from 7:30-9pm and runs through January 22. But if you can’t make it, check out some highlights below complete with their humorous new captions.
