Debbie Harry Celebrates Chris Stein's new Photo Book

This year has been a landmark one for the band Blondie. Not only have they celebrated their 40th anniversary, released a greatest hits album, Ghosts of Download, and went on a world tour, but now cofounder and guitarist, Chris Stein, has a new photo book out, Me, Blondie And The Advent Of Punk, published by Rizzoli and containing fab photos of the band’s adventures in it’s early days (some never published before!).

There was a fantastic book launch and photo show curated by Jeffrey Deitch called "A Blondie Exhibition" (which will be up until September 29th) this past Monday evening at the famous Hotel Chelsea’s store front gallery in NYC. Among the guests who were present was the author Chris Stein with his lovely wife, Barbara Sicuranza, Blondie’s drummer, Clem Burke, and of course the group’s iconic lead vocalist and lyricist, the incomparable Debbie Harry. Not to mention several artists, musicians, photographers, and members of NYC’s dwindling downtown scene. Some of the guests included photographers Roberta Bayley and Bob Gruen, writer and musician BP Fallon, musician Sting and his wife Trudie Styler, and other notable scenesters like Darian Darling. With the vodka and wine in abundance, it was a really fun event and a great photo exhibit.

Congrats to Blondie for still kicking it into their 40th year together and to Chris Stein for his talented photographic eye. I think his gorgeous book, Me, Blondie And The Advent Of Punk, will be topping many holiday gift lists this year, it's a must-have for any Blondie fan.
