Today might mark the summer solstice, but for presumptive Republican Party nominee Mitt Romney, the date might borrow from a different holiday, Halloween, more than is usual for summertime campaign stops. That is to say that Romney should be planning for the predicted appearance of Pillamina, Planned Parenthood’s costumed avenger, at his Troy, Michigan, fundraiser tonight. According to the Planned Parenthood blog, Pillamina is making her ‘triumphant return’ to the public eye (after appearing last year to fight for co-pay-free birth control) in order to combat the most recent barrage of conservative attacks against a woman’s freedom to choose.
You might remember Michigan as the same state where two female state House representatives were recently banned from the floor “for their comments and actions yesterday that failed to maintain the decorum of the House of Representatives” – AKA saying the word “vagina” in the midst of a passionate battle against an anti-choice bill. Seems like Michigan is the perfect place for Pillamina to begin shaking things up!
