Samantha Bee Shows What It’s Really Like To Be A Woman In The Workplace

by Danniah Daher

Samantha Bee discusses the dangers of being a woman in the workplace in her latest Full Frontal segment, “Samantha Bee’s #ROAR, You-Go-Girl, Job Fair for Future Women. Lean In!”. Bee highlights the hazards women experience as a park ranger, cruise-ship employee, and lastly, a female comedian.

You’d think a park ranger’s biggest problem would be the hungry wild animals. Alas, hungry wild men are the actual problem. Female park rangers are allegedly greeted with cans of human sh*t on their doorsteps if they don’t respond to their male coworkers’ sexual propositions.

Working on a cruise ship is no better. One woman describes her time working on a cruise ship as “Rapetown, USA.” Another states, “It’s the most sexual harassment I’ve ever seen in any workplace.”

Bee goes on to discuss what it’s like for women in her own profession—comedy. “Ya know how people are always like, ‘Wonder why there aren’t more female comedians?’ Well, maybe it’s because every time a woman opens her mouth to tell a joke, someone tries to put their dick in it.”

She followed with, “But, it’s not a lot of guys (Hashtag Not All Men, Hashtag Please Don’t Leave Me Mean Messages). It’s just a few guys getting away with assault and harassment, over and over and over again.”

And Bee is right. All men don’t treat women this way. Most men are pretty cool. But there’s a select creepy few that ruin the fun for everyone, because they choose to act like perverted pieces of shit that can’t keep their damn hands to themselves.

Samantha Bee’s conclusion: as long as there are men in this world, women will not be safe.

Well, there’s your daily reminder of why you carry pepper spray in your purse. Sorry for this downer of an article—but at least we can depend on Samantha Bee to serve us the truth with humor and intelligent sass.
