Whoa! What was that?! Kimbra's music video for "90s Music" is 100% in the 21st century.
Internet commenters who lament the unoriginality of the new music video, directed by Justin Francis, probably didn't grow up in the 90s or get the various pop culture references peppered throughout. You might say that making a video which spoofs or examines these things is unoriginal since the 90s are so trendy right now. But I think Kimbra is trying to explore our fascination with the 90s and nostalgia in general, while also owning up to an honest truth: Hey, we listen to 90s music. Read More

Macramé has been associated with all sorts of unsavory ’70s grossness in the past, but lately it has come back into vogue with a vengeance. Not just the product of too much time (and weed) on your hands, macramé is a rad, relaxing activity, and this plant hanger is a perfect way to show off the craft. The modern way to macramé is by using neon cords instead of earth-toned yarn, and by accenting it with hex nuts and washers, instead of wooden beads. Read More

“It’s your favorite number under the O—69!” says Linda Gerard (also known as Linda Fabulous, cause she is) into her head mic, during a recent Saturday evening at her legendary bingo night at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club in Palm Springs. I love a dirty joke, especially out of the mouths of senior babes, and the 74-year-old Gerard doles ’em out like my grandma does Werther’s. She also intermittently breaks into song and works the crowd like a pro. Read More

We're loving the fashions in these 1970s-era pictures of students at Brooklyn's Saint Joseph's College, which Flavorpill posted recently.
Many of the styles look pretty similar to the ones ladies are sporting today, like the large black-rimmed glasses, pea coats, button downs, and belted waists. In fact, there are probably awesomely stylish girls dressed like this walking around Brooklyn right now.
There are also quintessentially 70s plaids, vests, flares, and jumpers (most likely made out of wonderful heavy polyester). Read More

In addition to the hellish summer heat we’ve been subjected to as of late, here’s another reason that’ll have you frantically counting down the days until Fall: Dita Von Teese, the unofficial queen of all things retro, burlesque and vintage, will be unveiling her very own clothing line. Vintage fashionistas, rejoice!
The performer/fierce fashion icon currently has a fragrance, cosmetics, and a lingerie line, but all three are woefully not yet available for purchase in the U.S. Read More
