In an extremely personal and honest new song, Angel Haze comes clean: she raps about being repeatedly sexually abused as a child by more than one attacker. Distressingly, when she told others about it, they either wouldn’t believe her or placed the blame on her.
The assault she dealt with during her upbringing obviously caused a lot of pain – both physical and mental. “I was afraid of myself, I had no love for myself,” she raps. When she got older, she continues, she had thoughts of suicide, starved herself, and says, “I didn’t want to be attractive to nobody else.”
The song (set to a beat from Eminem’s “Cleaning Out My Closet”) is heavy, but Angel shows a light at the end of the tunnel by the end of the song, telling listeners “there’s a way from the ground” and “just be strong and just move on and just accept what you can.”
