Pin-Up Girls and Chicken Farming? You Betcha!

Two of my favorite things—pin-up style and humanely-farmed poultry-are coming together! Marion Acres, a small farm in Portland, just had its annual “Ladies’ Chicken Harvest.” Ten women, all dolled up in red lipstick, victory rolls and polka dots, came to the farm for a day to try their hands at chicken harvesting, and it naturally made for some pretty priceless photos. 

I love chicken, but how it’s farmed and processed is super important to me. Marion Acres’ chickens are pasture-raised and live full, healthy lives before they’re harvested. 

The harvest ladies learned some farming skills and gained a new appreciation for what goes into putting food on the table every night.  

 

It’s a dirty job, but these women make it look easy and super stylin’. Here’s the video from last year’s Harvest:
