N.Y.C.’s MNDR serves up a rough-cut gem with its first full-length, Feed Me Diamonds. Comprised of duo Amanda Warner and Peter Wade, the band’s ’80s-inspired, electro sound doesn’t go down as easily as straight-up pop music because the beats and synths are unrefined, raw, and gritty. Werner often wavers between hitting and not hitting her notes, which adds tension to the already deliciously strained music. MNDR hasn't been in the spotlight much since the release of their E.P.E. EP in 2010, but that's all about to change. I didn't think I could like anything as much as last year's "Cut Me Out" (which I still blast in my headphones at least once a week), but new single "#1 in Heaven" is quickly climbing to the top of my most played list. It's an infectious electropop jam anchored by a head-bopping dance beat and Amanda Warner's sultry vocals. MNDR is a hot electro-pop duo, and their new video for their single "Cut Me Out," is awesome. MNDR is made up of the famous Amanda Warner and Peter Wade. Amanda is well known for her collaboration with Mark Ronson & The Business Intl., for the song "Bang Bang Bang."
She worked with director Tim Saccenti, to create the imagery that meshes perfectly with the thumping synths and Amanda's self-harmonies. Look for more MNDR in our June/July Music issue!
