Karl Lagerfeld for Macy’s Collection

by Kristina Uriegas-Reyes

Of all the designers out there, Karl Lagerfeld is not exactly known for loving “the little people,” but not only did he give us a collection for H&M in 2004, but lo and behold he’s gone and created another well-priced line exclusively for Macy’s now. “To me Macy’s is the perfect department store in the US where everybody can find what they’re looking for without ruining their budget,” Lagerfeld said in a release, “That’s why I am happy to make this limited collection just for Macy’s.” Obviously I was beyond excited to see what he came up with, this is Mr. Chanel after all, but I’ll admit I’m a little disappointed. Couture and high-fashion is always sort of dumbed-down when it comes to these kinds of lines and this one is no exception. I do believe it’s in line with the Macy’s customer, but some of the pieces are kind of..boring. I understand they have to keep the every day women in mind and there are definitely pretty pieces here, but I expected a bit more oomph from Karl for some reason. I am totally into is this Wednesday Adams-inspired dress above though and the cute tees with his face on it. You just know those are going to sell like hotcakes.

The collection, comprised of 45 different styles with prices ranging between $50-$170, will launch August 31st! Take a look below and tell me your thoughts on the collection..

I’m always down for florals. It’s strange how the pattern above looks sort of “department store-esque,” but the one below has a bit more of a luxurious look to it.
